NWCA Carving by Dmitry D. Emelyanov
Dmitry D. Emelyanov was born
December 6, 1967, in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia. Since 1992, he has
been mastering the art of religious and other miniature woodcarving, sticking to
traditional methods and avoiding the use of optical or mechanical tools. Not
only does he work just with hand tools, the tools he uses are ones he makes for
himself.
"I have no special art education," Dmitry says, "all is given to me from God!
I also make miniature sculpture from mastodon tusk, ceramic and metal, but
woodcarving is my favorite art."
Dmitry is currently employed at Yaroslav-The-Wise Novgorod State University
where he makes awards, souvenirs, etc., for the university. His work can be
viewed on the Internet at http://www.jamesbaird.com/, and he can be
