to create in Pervomaysky district of Moscow an English-specialized school.Thus,school
N 17 appeared.For 30 years it kept a repulation of "a two-figured
number"school-one of the most advanced in Moscow. In 1992 the changes
began,the result of which school raised its level.It recieved the status
of a gymnasium-Izmaylovskaya Gymnasium N 1508 (the first two figures indicate
the status ).Izmaylovskaya Gymnasium differs a lot from other school.The
Institution of Tutors was established.A Tutor fulfils the work of a formmistress
but does not conduct any lessons.That is why she has much more time to
spend with the class.It makes the student's life various and exciting. żżżżżżżżżżNew subjects appeared on the curriculum:the second foreign language,which is an optional subjects(French,Spanish or German),the English literature ,applied economics,computing,logics, psychology,the History of Religions,etc.A lot of professors of the Foreign Departament are widly-known authors of the English manuals,which are very popular all over the country.At the end of the 7-th form students take exams to enter the Gymnasium.There are four streams:science,economic,philological and law.It enables the individual approach to every student in the group of 10-15 people. The structure of studying in Izmaylovskaya Gymnasium differs from other schools.The year is devided in six terms.Each of them last 5-6 weeks with a week of holidays between them. At the end of the year the most advanced students are to have a public defence of the scientific- research work in the chosen subject. It reveals the interests and inclinations of students in different spheres of education at school. |
