RAINBOW KEEPERS ACTION IN ADLER

JULY 18 THE ACTION OF RADICAL ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT "RAINBOW KEEPERS" TOOK PLACE IN ADLER (RUSSIA).

"Rainbow Keepers", Social Ecological Union of Kuban and Adygeya and Federation of Kuban Anarchists blockaded entrances of the office-building of Caucasian State Biosphere Zapovednik (nature reservation in Caucasus). This action was organized as a protest against destroying of unique nature of zapovednik.

As a rezult of criminal activity of leadership rare and endangered species of animals became the subject of selling. Anyone who has enough money can hunt in zapovednik. Helicopter hunts with using of automatic arms are organised, virgin wood is cut down, a property is stolen with direct participation of the director N.Timuhin. The best scientific collaborators and workers were exiled from zapovednik by it's director. Such situation has led to abrupt decrease of quantity of animals of many species and has put some of them on the verge of extinction.

Before the begining of the workday heavy locks were hung on the gate and doors of the zapovednik's office; 8 people were chained by handcuffs to the gate and entrance door-handles. Official premises were utterly blockaded. About 10 participants of the action unwraped placards with slogans: "Timuhin's protectors in Moscow studies - we aim at your calm!", "We will not retread until this holy place is cleared of villains!", "Our radicalism is only a weak reflection of proper reaction on the unlimit which is going on here!". Over the gate of zapovednik there was a singboard "State Caucasian meat-forest-plant".

The requests of the "Rainbow Keepers" were:

• to stop destroying the nature of Caucasian zapovednik;

• to replace dirty leadership with Timuhin in a head.

"We are notifying that if our requests aren't executed and the present direction doesn't retire we will continue our fight", - declared participants of the action.

Three hours late 8 people were arrested and at 15-00 the lawsuit took place. The police and Judge were enogh loyal and blockaders got "notice". (It's a most easy "punishment" for criminal in Russia. After two "notices" criminal may get 15 days of imprisonment.)
