Dniepropetrovsk Association of the Quality of Human Life
(DAQHL) was founded on 19 March 1997 in Dniepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
Dniepropetrovsk Association of the Quality of Human Life is a
non-profit voluntary non-government organisation in the field
of the health-related Quality of Life. Certificate of the
Statute of the DAQHL is N113, 25.06.97. The endorsement of
the Statute of the DAQHL was at the First General Meeting
on 19 March 1997.
The General Meeting is the Supreme Association’s Organ. Sixteen doctors, psychologists, sociologists and ecologists are members of this association. Svetlana Pkhidenko, M.D, Ph.D., Associate Professor is the President of Dniepropetrovsk Association of the Quality of Human Life. At present the Co-ordination Council realises the leadership of the Association. The Co-ordination Council includes 6 persons who carry out the organisation work, research work, social charity programs, public relations.

The main aim of the Dniepropetrovsk Association of the Quality
of Human Life is the medical research work for the assessment
of the quality of human life in Ukraine.

The Association carries out the research of the quality of life
in schizophrenia patients and elaborate the programs of prevention
of long term disability.
Dr. S. Pkhidenko personally won a grant (1996 - 97) from the
International Renaissance Foundation to perform research on the
attitude of teenagers towards alcohol and substance abuse in the
Dniepropetrovsk Region of Ukraine. We prepared the program of
early prevention of the substance abuse.
The organisation took part in the International Conference
"Human Rights for Persons with Mental Handicaps"
(Prague, Czech republic, Sept. 7-12, 1997).
Our association collaborates with the International Society for
the Quality of Life Research. We took part at the 4th Annual
Conference of the International Society for the Quality of
Life Research (November 5-8, 1997, Vienna, Austria).
Members of the association have published 5 articles about
quality of life in schizophrenia and mental disability in
various scientific journals and one monograph.
At present Dniepropetrovsk Association of the Quality of Human
Life works to translate the instrument of the World Health
Organisation - WHOQOL - 100 - into Ukrainian.
We are going to organize a Ukrainian QoL Centre. In the future
we hope to have an INTERNET QoL Centre not only in UKRAINE,
but also for scientists from the Independent States of the
former Soviet Union.
