Here are some reasons for you to accept my suggestion to be your guide in Moscow. Apart of informational and safety reasons I consider the most important the last one in the list. - You'll not miss must-sees in Moscow and events that could be interesting for you. - No chance to get lost or overpay for taxi, food, gifts, tickets. - All info about Moscow and Russia is always with you as a good selfspeaking guide book of the last issue. - No troubles with taxi drivers, communists, waiters. - You'll be in a good company. But if talking seriously, Moscow if a huge city, and especially if you have limited time here and want to see as much as possible it is better to do with a guide. Main reason is that most of sights of Moscow are long distance from each other and for non-Russian it could be a trouble to quickly win a battle with Moscow underground (where everything is in Russian only), other public transport (where not that many people would be able to explain you in English or German your way) or with taxi drivers (who as probably all taxi drivers have a secret hope to rip you of). All "troubles" listed above are not really troubles that can really bother an experienced traveller, but anyway it will take you some time and nerves to overcome them. Anyway, if you don't plan to hire a guide or if you do, I wish you to have the most unforgettable holidays in Moscow just because this great city will definitely give you one of the best memories you've ever had.
