SHORT INTRODUCTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE COMING TO RUSSIA

I'm a 23 years old free-lence guide in Moscow, a bit traveller, a bit interpreter, a bit photographer, a bit postgraduate student.... My name is Marina. An idea to be a Moscow guide, to create a team of flat owners to arrange homestay and flat rent appeared several years ago. I guess it happened actually due to a travel bug in my blood. The fact is that traveling a great deal around Russia in my school and university years I collected lots of useful information about my country  - and all these lots wanted to be useful for other travelers one day. So I started guiding about 3 years ago and 2 years ago one nice Moscow family met the first foreign guest.

Another reason of me making this web was my wish to tell you a bit about Russia and for sure about Moscow where I live, to answer some common questions travelers usually ask me about. Having a good experience of guiding and meeting lots of people from all over the world I think I have right to say - my country in not a Paradize (as any place apart of Paradize) but here live (surprize! surprize!) the same people as you and me, here work the same human beings laws, people are kind and hospitable here, transport system works, trains are safe and hotels are suitable for living... But actually all that is not the most important... We all travel to see new places, interesting cities, beautiful nature, nice people... Come and discover your own Russia, this country worth your visiting, believe me. And one more word - if you still have no idea what Russia is - ask those who have already been here, but not those who have heard a lot... (This is not my great thought, but Hemingway's).

I work not on my own, but in a team of good people knowing perfectly their business. My main assistants are two other guides - English and German speaking friends of mine. Also there are two drivers and of course owners of flats for rent and host families that arrange b & b homestay. These families are really good and friendly people, most of members of all families know English, so no one ever had communication troubles. They are not just hospitable, but really are very helpful - all matters related to city transport, information, tickets, good advice, shopping, 'how to get to...', 'how much...', 'where...', etc. will not be troubles for you if you stay in a family.

So welcome to Russia and hope very much our web will be useful for  you. Feel free to mail us, We'll be glad to help you with info you need or to arrange your trip. Our informational support, good advice and bright smiles are always free.

Yours Marina & team, russianguide@mail.ru
